One thing that I love doing is listening to music. Since I'm not working right now, and just focusing on school, I have a lot of spare time. The majority of this time is spent online, reading, playing/cuddling with my cat, homework, studying, trying out new crafts, (I'm not particularly crafty, but I've been looking at different blogs for ideas and inspiration!) and listening to music while I do all of it. So, after some thought, I figured I would do like a Music Monday, in a way, but how about we change it to Music Thursday? :) I'll be posting songs that I've been loving during that week. It seems like a fun idea, so let's get started!
I kid you not when I say that this particular song I had on repeat last night, I must've played it about 20 times in a row: Don't Think Twice, it's All Right by Bob Dylan. The guitar at the beginning of that song, that was enough to reel me in the first time I heard it. It's definitely one of my favorite songs, and I feel like it's a song we can probably all relate to in one way or another.
I'm a-thinkin' and a-wond'rin', walkin' down the road,
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I gave her my heart, but she wanted my soul
But don't think twice, it's all right
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I gave her my heart, but she wanted my soul
But don't think twice, it's all right
The next song is from a band that I've always liked, but never took the time to really look into more of their music, other than their hits. I recently got a few of their albums, and have been listening to them a lot recently! White Moon by The White Stripes. That song is so heart-wrenchingly beautiful to me. If you've seen Under Great White Northern Lights, then you could probably understand how I had grown to love it so much more after viewing that. I would be lying if I said I don't tear up near the end of that scene, where Meg is crying, and Jack pulls her in for comfort. Ah, it gets me every time!
Good lord, good lord
The one I adore
And I cannot afford is a ghost
Is a ghost
The one I adore
And I cannot afford is a ghost
Is a ghost
Here's another example of a great band that I never really took much time to actually listen to, but I'm glad that I have finally started. The melody of this song is gorgeous: Soma by The Smashing Pumpkins. I could honestly listen to this song on repeat for days, I get lost in it every single time I listen.
Didn't want to lose you once again
Didn't want to be your friend
Fulfilled a promise made of tin
And crawled back to you
I'm all by myself
As I've always felt
I'll betray myself
To anyone, lost, anyone but you
Fulfilled a promise made of tin
And crawled back to you
I'm all by myself
As I've always felt
I'll betray myself
To anyone, lost, anyone but you
The last song is from a band that I actually have been listening to for a while now. Let me just say that I'm completely in love with Zooey Deschanel, okay? I get a lot of inspiration from her. She seems like such a wonderful human being, I feel like I can relate to her, her style is to die for, she's an amazing actress, and she has such a beautiful voice. You guys, she is the ultimate package! Anyway, this song is a great one to listen to before going to sleep, I have to admit, I'm guilty of doing so myself-it may or may not promote good dreams, not to mention, it's so comforting! If You Can't Sleep by She & Him. Zooey and M. Ward are such a perfect little group, and I'm proud to say I own all of their records on vinyl, including the Christmas one. I'm a sucker for Christmas music during the holidays. ;)
If you can't sleep, I'll be there in your dreams
I'll be there in your dreams if you can't sleep at all
And in your dreams, I'll touch your cheek
And lay my head on your shoulder
I'll be there in your dreams if you can't sleep at all
And in your dreams, I'll touch your cheek
And lay my head on your shoulder
I hope you guys enjoy the songs I chose, and if you haven't listened to them yet, I HIGHLY suggest doing so! These are absolutely songs that I can't just listen to once. Ugh, I love them!
xoxo
